Job summary

The YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase is looking for an Assistant Facility Maintenance Manager to support daily facility operations, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping. You’ll help ensure our YMCA spaces are clean, safe, and ready for members at all times.

In collaboration with branch leadership and the Facility Engineer, you will handle maintenance requests, inspections, and vendor coordination while contributing to upgrades and special events.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of facilities management, housekeeping, or related experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Support housekeeping and maintenance teams to uphold facility standards.
• Assist with preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
• Respond to maintenance requests, work orders, and repairs promptly.
• Assist with inspections to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot facility systems.
• Monitor HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other building systems.
• Assist with inventory, supplies, and maintaining organized maintenance areas.
• Coordinate vendors, contractors, and service providers as needed.
• Support branch leadership with events and facility upgrades.
• Maintain clean, safe, welcoming spaces for members and staff.
• Assist with training and supporting maintenance staff.
• Respond to emergencies and urgent maintenance as required.

Position: Assistant Facility Maintenance Manager Salary: $40,000.00

About the Role

As the Assistant Facility Maintenance Manager, you’ll support day-to-day facility operations, preventive maintenance programs, and housekeeping services at the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase. You’ll work closely with branch leadership and the Facility Engineer to help ensure our YMCA facilities remain clean, safe, efficient, and member-ready at all times.

What You’ll Do: In this role, you will:

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a dependable and proactive team member who enjoys hands‑on work and thrives in a fast‑paced, service‑focused environment.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in facilities management, housekeeping operations, building maintenance, or a related field preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and preventive maintenance.
• Pool Operator Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while also being an effective team member.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a physically active, fast‑paced environment.
• Must be available for emergency call‑outs as needed.
