Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking an Assistant Facility Maintenance Manager to oversee daily operations, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping at the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase. You will work with the Facility Engineer to keep facilities clean, safe, and member-ready at all times.

You’ll collaborate with branch leadership, assist with emergency maintenance, and coordinate vendors and upgrades while ensuring a welcoming environment for members and staff.

Qualifications

• 1 year role in facilities management, housekeeping, or building maintenance preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Support housekeeping and maintenance teams to maintain facility standards.
• Assist with preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
• Respond to maintenance requests, work orders, and repairs promptly.
• Assist with inspections to ensure safety, health, and regulatory compliance.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot facility systems and equipment.
• Monitor HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other building systems.
• Help manage inventory and maintain organized maintenance areas.
• Coordinate vendors, contractors, and service providers as needed.
• Support leadership with special events, programs, and facility upgrades.
• Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for members, staff, and participants.
• Assist training and support of maintenance staff; respond to emergencies.
