Job Description:

Summary: The Unconventional (TU) is seeking a qualified Interpreter to support the Department of Justice (DOJ) with Translation, Interpretation, Transcription, and other Linguistic Support Services (LSS). Activities may include the translation of documents and video/audio media content, as well as ancillary services such as court and deposition interpretation.

The material to be translated, transcribed, or interpreted is legal in nature and may include various formats such as electronic or hard copies of documents, multimedia presentations, and audio or video files. Examples of subject matter areas include medical reports, financial documents, legal documents, and law enforcement sensitive information.

All material will be considered “sensitive,” requiring strict controls and confidentiality measures.

Job Requirements:

1. Provide interpretation services within (3) hours of request of the Government.

Required Qualifications:

• Specialized training in the interpreting field and/or extensive experience in court or legal environments in the required language.
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in language interpretation.
• Qualifying scores ILR 3 minimum or equivalent on language/translation tests.
• Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the U.S.
• Must have at least 1 year of experience working with a law enforcement and/or legal department.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, Naturalized citizen, or Green Card holder.
• Knowledge of both English and foreign language vocabularies used in various contexts.
• Ability to interpret accurately and preserve the tone of source language materials.
• Abide by relevant code of linguist ethics.

Clearance: Active Public Trust or higher security clearance
