Job summary

Ontario Trillium Foundation is seeking a Yard Management Supervisor to oversee daily yard, dock, trailer, and fleet activities within our transportation network in Richmond, VA. The role focuses on coordinating inbound/outbound movements, optimizing routes, and maintaining accurate data records.

You will partner with operations, carriers, and drivers to ensure timely deliveries, compliance with safety standards, and efficient yard operations. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum 5–10 years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read/write routine reports and correspondence; communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily yard, dock, trailer, routing, scheduling, fleet, and transportation network activities.
• Coordinate with operations, carriers, drivers, and partners to plan receiving, shipping, and trailer movement.
• Manage routing, yard staging, dock assignments, equipment availability, and fleet operations to meet service commitments.
• Maintain and update trailer, shipment, yard location, routing, and transportation data in databases.
• Monitor yard flow, dock utilization, and performance metrics to identify inefficiencies.
• Implement policies and procedures for safety, compliance, and efficient transportation execution.
• Audit processes to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Schedule freight pickup with providers and resolve service issues.
• Collect/report data on shipping rates, freight movement, and transport trends.
• Collaborate with warehouse leadership to prioritize loads and align volumes with resources.
• Investigate discrepancies and communicate resolutions.
