Job summary

FedEx Logistics in Kernersville, NC seeks a yard switcher/package handler to manage trailer movements between the yard and doors and to assist with loading and unloading packages safely and efficiently, using standard safety practices.

You will coordinate trailer moves with management, document actions in the Yard Management System, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, sort packages, and operate dock equipment in a fast-paced, team-driven environment, five days a week.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow safety instructions.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Proficiency with basic dock equipment and scanning tools.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard and doors and between doors and yard.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management/central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Sort and load/unload packages using conveyor, carts, and scanners.
• Operate hand-to-surface methods for package handling.
• Work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
