Job summary

Federal Express Corporation in New Jersey is seeking a switcher/package handler to move trailers between yards and doors, and to load and unload packages with care. You will use scanners and yard equipment while maintaining safety and accuracy in sorting packages.

The role requires reliable transportation-related duties, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. This is a full-time, on-site position with shift 2pm–10pm and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Good numeracy for sorting packages and reading labels.

Responsibilities

• Moves trailers by hooking and moving parked trailers from yard to load/unload doors and back.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management/central control.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follows yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Loads/unloads packages onto/from delivery vehicles, trailers, and carts.
• Lifts and carries packages for 2–4 hour shifts.
• Sorts packages by scanning, reading labels, and memorizing information.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
