Job summary

Federal Express Corporation in New Jersey seeks a switcher to move trailers between yard and doors and to support early AM inbound sort operations. You will document movements, perform safety inspections, and follow yard protocols in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates may have experience as a switcher or CDL operator; report to the yard team, with training provided as needed. This role pays hourly and requires cooperation in a busy distribution setting.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, hand-held scanners, chutes and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Move and hook trailers between yard and doors as defined.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management or central control.
• Document moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follow yard safety processes and procedures.
• Load and unload packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, conveyors, and carts.
• Sort packages by scanning labels, reading charts, and memorizing routing information.
