Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a Switcher/Package Handler to support yard operations at Newark, NJ. You will move trailers between yards and doors, and may load or unload packages by hand, lifting, pushing, and pulling as needed.

Essential duties include hooking and moving trailers, coordinating with central control, recording movements, and performing pre- and post-trip checks on equipment. You will sort packages by hand, using scanners and carts in a fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

• None required.
• Six months of experience as a package handler or switching/CDL operator preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.
• Ability to read labels, use scanners and sort packages.
• Strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yards and doors; hook and move parked trailers.
• Coordinate trailer movements with central control and yard management.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment.
• Load and unload packages by hand and sort per conveyor rules.
• Other duties as assigned.
