Job summary

Federal Express Corporation in Minnesota is seeking a reliable Switcher/Package Handler to move trailers within the yard and assist with loading and unloading by hand. You will operate yard equipment, sort packages, and ensure accurate documentation of trailer moves using scanners or switcher cards.

Responsibilities include pre- and post-trip inspections, adhering to safety processes, and communicating with management to coordinate movements.

Qualifications

Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a DOT file.
Ability to understand and follow safety instructions.
Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
Strong communication in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

Performs trailer switches defined as hooking and moving a parked trailer between yard and load/unload door.
Communicates with management and/or central control to coordinate trailer movements in the yard.
Documents trailer moves using the Yard Management System or switcher cards.
Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
Understands and demonstrates effective yard switching safety processes and procedures.
Loads and unloads packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, conveyor system carts and load gratings.
Lifts, carries, pushes and pulls packages repeatedly.
Sorts packages by scanning labels and numbers.
