Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a yard switcher/package handler to move trailers between yards and doors, and to load and unload packages with safety and efficiency. You will coordinate movements, document actions, and perform safety checks in a fast-paced environment.

The role involves handling heavy packages, using scanners and carts, and working two to four hour shifts with attention to DOT and driving license requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) file.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Experience with basic loading/unloading equipment is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard and doors as needed and perform trailer switches.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management or central control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Sort packages by scanning labels and reading charts.
• Load and unload packages onto/from vehicles, trailers, and carts.
• Safely handle heavy packages for two to four hour shifts.
• Follow yard safety processes and procedures.
