Job summary

Federal Express Corporation seeks a Yard Switcher/Package Handler to move trailers between yards and doors, and to assist with hand-packaging duties. You will coordinate movements, inspect equipment, and ensure safe operation across shifts.

The role requires attention to safety, ability to read labels and numbers, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. On-site work with potential exposure to heat, fumes, and noise; includes day and evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers between yard and load/unload doors and within the yard.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management or central control.
• Document trailer moves using yard management systems or switcher cards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Follow yard switching safety processes and procedures.
• Load and unload packages onto/from vehicles, trailers, or carts.
• Lift and move packages repeatedly for shifts lasting several hours.
• Sort packages by scanning labels, numbers, and charts.
