Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a yard switcher/package handler to move trailers between the yard and doors and assist with hand-loading and unloading packages. You will coordinate with management, document trailer activity, and perform safety inspections on equipment.

Responsibilities include handling packages, sorting by conveyor, and supporting the yard operations. Requires a valid driver's license and DOT compliance; no formal education required.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow instruction regarding work duties and safety methods.
• Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Moves trailers between yard and doors and coordinates with management for yard movements.
• Coordinates trailer movements with management and/or central control.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Loads and unloads packages onto or from delivery vehicles, trailers, conveyors and carts.
• Lifts and moves packages for two to four hours per shift.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
