Job summary

HD Supply in Kent, WA is seeking a Yard Jockey / Yard Switcher to move tractor trailers within the distribution center yard. The role requires operating a switcher truck, performing safety checks, and backing trailers to loading docks. A CDL with HazMat endorsement and acceptable MVR are required.

A Yard Jockey / Yard Switcher operates a switcher truck to move tractor trailers around the distribution center yard, including backing up trailers to loading docks, performing safety checks to secure trailers, opening bay doors, and assisting dock workers with loading and unloading inventory.

This position requires the operation of a company vehicle, and this operation may be done during the average work week. If selected for this position, the company will continuously monitor Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs). A requirement of this position is an acceptable MVR status and a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with hazardous materials endorsement.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:

Nature and Scope:

• Under limited supervision, relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach to achieve desired outcomes.
• Work typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor or direct customers of the process.
• Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or
• equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.

Education and Experience:

• Generally 5-7 years of experience in a related area of responsibility.
