Carter Lumber is seeking a Yard Supervisor in Ohio for a hybrid role combining administrative duties with active yard work. You’ll lead a team, hire and discipline as needed, and ensure smooth yard operations while assisting customers with material selection and loading.

The role emphasizes hands-on yard supervision, inventory control, dispatch scheduling, and maintaining equipment. Ideal candidates have supervisory and dispatch experience and proficiency in Excel, with a customer-focused

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience in customer service, preferably in a lumber yard.
• Dispatch experience is a plus
• Ability to direct and train others effectively
• Familiarity with building materials
• Ability to be an effective team member and leader
• Experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

Responsibilities

• Manage employee performance, hiring, communication and discipline to model the yard's standards.
• Assist customers with material selection and loading with a friendly attitude.
• Pull and stage material for pickup and delivery; help with dispatching and scheduling.
• Maintain yard inventory with cycle counts and keep the yard organized.
• Ensure yard policies, sales, inventory and safety are followed; schedule vehicle maintenance.
