Carter Lumber seeks a Yard Supervisor to blend administrative tasks with active yard duties in a fast-paced lumber yard. This hybrid role emphasizes calm, effective leadership, staff coordination, and dependable service to customers.

You will manage dispatch, organize material pulls, oversee inventory and safety, and lead by example to maintain efficient yard operations. Proficiency in Excel and strong customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience in customer service, preferably in a lumber yard.
• Dispatch experience is a plus.
• Ability to direct and train others effectively.
• Familiarity with building materials.
• Ability to be an effective team member and leader.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

Responsibilities

• Hire, communicate, and discipline yard staff to set the right example.
• Assist customers with loading materials and provide friendly service.
• Pull and stage materials for pickup and delivery; dispatch and schedule shipments.
• Maintain yard inventory with cycle counts and keep the yard organized.
• Ensure yard policies are followed, including safety and operations.
• Oversee equipment maintenance and coordinate vehicle service schedules.
