Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking a Yard Supervisor to blend yard operations with administrative duties. You will lead employees, ensure safe and efficient loading, and coordinate dispatches for timely deliveries.

The role emphasizes customer service, material handling, and maintaining inventory while upholding yard policies. A strong team leadership background and familiarity with building materials are required.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience in customer service, preferably in a lumber yard.
• Ability to hire, communicate, and discipline staff effectively.
• Experience with dispatching and scheduling shipments is a plus.
• Familiarity with building materials.
• Able to direct and train others and work as part of a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage employees, handle hiring, communication, and disciplinary actions.
• Assist customers in selecting and loading materials with a friendly attitude.
• Pull and stage materials for pickup and delivery; assist with dispatching and routing.
