Job summary

NewCold Melbourne in Tacoma is hiring a Yard Operator to maneuver tractors, load and unload goods, and ensure safe yard and dock operations in line with DOT rules. You will coordinate with the team to keep equipment in top condition and support a efficient logistics workflow.

The ideal candidate holds a High School Degree with 2+ years of related experience; CDL and commercial driving experience are preferred.

• Ability to use computer for yard tracking.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and maneuver equipment on yard prior to dispatch.
• Ensure the safe movement of equipment around the yard and warehouse.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours.
• Maintain equipment while on site.
• Drop and hook tractor to trailer.
• Inspects truck for defects, before and after trips and submits reports indicating truck condition.

Your role as a Yard Operator

Key responsibilities:

Theprimary function of this position is to maneuver tractor trailers for thepurpose of loading and unloading products while providing safety and securityfor the division yard and dock area. It is further required that the abovefunction be completed in a safe andtimelymanner andinaccordance withDepartment of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

This will be done by:

• Maintain and maneuver equipmenton yardprior to dispatch.
• Ensure the safe movement of equipment around the yard and warehouse.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the proper, complete, and safe executionofthelogisticsand other associated activities on the site.
• Ability to verify unit initials and numbers accurately.
• Maintain a safe pace while spotting and pulling trailers/containers from dockdoors.
• Maintain the integrity of trailers and loads by ensuring that cold chaintemperature is adhered to.
• Ensureall loads are guarded and sealed.
• When carrying out transport and storage activities handle the requirements ofthe quality management system
