Job summary

NewCold is hiring a Machine Operator in Atlanta to operate and maintain layer pick material handling equipment, ensuring efficient product flow in a fast-paced warehouse. You will troubleshoot minor issues, monitor system performance, and support safe, accurate operations while maintaining a clean and organized work area.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or equivalent, at least 2 years in warehousing, and experience with automated systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical training preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in a warehouse or related field.
• Experience with automated systems or storage warehouses preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate layer pick equipment for stacking and destacking.
• Monitor product flow to automated systems to maintain throughput.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical or operational issues.
• Escalate complex equipment or system issues to supervisors or maintenance.
• Report product damage, system errors, and data discrepancies.
• Maintain compliance with all safety policies, including OSHA standards.
• Ensure work area is clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Understand equipment sensors and system functionality.
• Assist with other warehouse duties as needed.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
• Identify and report opportunities for process improvement.

Your role as a Machine Operator

Key responsibilities:

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining layer pick material handling equipment to ensure efficient product flow within the warehouse. Required Skills / Abilities

• Basic knowledge of warehouse operations and material handling systems
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to follow procedures and safety guidelines consistently
• Attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication and teamwork skills
• Basic to moderate computer proficiency (WMS, RF systems, or similar)
• Ability to adapt to changing operational demands

Education / Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree or technical training preferred
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a warehouse or related field
• Experience with automated systems or storage warehouses preferred

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work effectively in cold/freezer environments
Ability to climb fixed ladders up to 120 feet while using required fall protection equipment
Must be able to safely use required fall protection systems and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications
Must be able to safely wear required respiratory protection equipment in accordance with OSHA standards and manufacturer requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical tasks throughout scheduled shifts.
