Job summary

GEODIS is seeking a Yard Supervisor to oversee trailer yards, manage yard clerks and hostlers, and coordinate staffing across multiple yards. You will ensure safety procedures are followed and equipment is ready for operations, while maintaining accurate yard inventory by customer and carrier.

The role requires 3+ years of related experience, strong communication, planning, and organizational skills, plus proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Approved Motor Vehicle Record.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training.
• Experience with building and manipulating spreadsheets to report information to external and internal shareholders.
• PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access and Excel.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills that demonstrate a proven ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external customers.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Responsibilities

• Supervise yard clerks and yard hostlers.
• Coordinate scheduling of personnel at various yards.
• Work with operations and safety to ensure equipment is available and in working order.
• Verify adherence to safety standards and yard procedures.
• Collaborate with security guards on yard communication and flow.
• Maintain and distribute yard inventory reports by location and customer.
• Oversee timely maintenance of location equipment.
• Troubleshoot issues with carriers.
• Train and mentor new hires in best practices.
• Perform other duties as required.
