Job summary

GEODIS Group in New Jersey seeks a Yard Supervisor to oversee GEODIS trailer yards under contractual regulations. You will supervise yard clerks and hostlers, schedule staff across yards, and work with operations and safety to ensure equipment is available and functional.

You will verify safety standards, manage yard procedures, and coordinate with security for yard flow. The role includes maintaining yard inventory, overseeing equipment maintenance, and training new hires in best practices.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience with building and manipulating spreadsheets for reporting to stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong relationship-building with customers and colleagues.
• PC literate with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access and Excel; ability to interpret safety and maintenance documents.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate yard clerks and yard hostlers.
• Schedule personnel at multiple yards.
• Ensure equipment available and in working order with operations and safety teams.
• Verify adherence to safety standards and yard procedures; manage wheel chocks, glad hand lock, and jack stands.
• Maintain and distribute an accurate yard inventory by customer and carrier; oversee maintenance of location equipment.
• Troubleshoot issues with carriers and train new hires in best practices.
