Job summary

GEODIS is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager in Edison, New Jersey to coordinate distribution and warehousing in cross dock operations. You will work with customers and industry partners to evaluate and promote services, and develop efficient plans for materials, equipment, and staffing.

The role also includes cost reviews, profitability improvements, and participation in marketing and sales efforts to meet company goals and P&L.

Qualifications

• 3 years of related experience and/or training
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to written or oral instructions

Responsibilities

• Coordinates distribution and warehousing in a cross dock operation
• Confers with customers and industry reps to evaluate and promote services
• Develops plans for efficient use of materials, equipment and employees
• Reviews costs and recommends improvements for profitable operation
• Participates in marketing and sales efforts to meet company goals and P&L responsibilities
• Supervises warehouse positions including Team Leaders and Operations Supervisors
• Reports food safety problems to authorized personnel for action
