Job summary

Estes Express Lines seeks a dockworker to safely handle tractor trailers and large equipment in the yard, performing pre/post-shift inspections and securing freight with load bars and straps. You will set up trailers, lower landing gear, and monitor yard safety while working outdoors in varying weather and high-volume conditions.

Daily tasks include loading/unloading freight with forklifts, pallet jacks, or by hand, with attention to preventing damage and meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Able to operate forklift and pallet handling equipment safely.
• Must be able to lift 70 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background checks.
• CDL if driving on public roads (FMCSA rules).

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractor/trailers and other large equipment in the yard.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of yard and dock equipment.
• Cube, load and unload freight using forklift, pallet jack, hand truck or by hand.
• Block, brace and secure freight to prevent damage in transit.
• Set up, break down and hook trailers safely.
• Ensure pup trailers have tilt bar lowered before loading.
• Raise and lower landing gear; monitor unsafe drivers and non-employees.
• Work in outdoor weather conditions and perform duties as assigned.
• Communicate effectively with Dock supervision, Line Haul drivers and Fleet Services.
