Job summary

Schaefer Plastics North America, LLC is seeking a dependable Yard Lead to oversee the outdoor yard and material staging areas. You will manage material flow, organize inventory, coordinate staging, and support production and shipping operations.

This hands-on role requires leadership, safety focus, and comfort with outdoor conditions. The Yard Lead collaborates with Production, Warehouse, and Logistics to ensure materials are available when needed and to keep the yard organized and efficient.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years in warehouse, logistics, material handling, or yard ops.
• Forklift certification preferred; ability to obtain certification required.
• Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily yard activities and ensure materials are stored safely, accurately, and efficiently.
• Coordinate the movement and staging of materials to support production, warehouse, and shipping needs.
• Receive and verify incoming and outgoing materials, including quantities, condition, and placement.
• Maintain an organized staging area for quick material access.
• Partner with Production, Warehouse, and Logistics to prioritize material requirements.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free yard and safe walkways/driveways.
• Provide day-to-day direction to yard and forklift personnel as applicable.
• Perform routine inventory counts and investigate discrepancies.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
• Assist with loading/unloading and preparing materials for shipment.
• Communicate with drivers, vendors, and internal teams to keep yard operations smooth.
• Identify opportunities to improve material flow and space utilization.
