Job summary

Estes Express Lines is seeking a dockworker to safely load/unload freight in the yard using forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual methods. You will perform equipment inspections and ensure secure loading to prevent damage in transit.

The role requires 17+ years old, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work outdoors in varied weather. CDL holders must meet FMCSA requirements and may be assigned night/weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Must be 17+ years of age.
• A CDL and acceptable MVR required if driving on public roads.
• If a CDL holder, must be registered with FMCSA Drug Clearinghouse.
• Experience in the transportation industry is a plus.
• Stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractor/trailers and other large equipment to facilitate loading/unloading in the yard.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of yard and dock equipment.
• Cube, load and unload freight using forklift, pallet jack, hand truck or by hand.
• Load freight to prevent damage and shifting with blocking, bracing, load bars, straps, dunnage and airbags.
• Set up, break down and hook trailers safely.
• Ensure pup trailers have tilt bar lowered prior to loading freight.
• Raise and lower landing gear.
• Monitor yard for unsafe drivers and non-employees; notify management.
• Work in outdoor weather conditions.
• Perform all duties of dockworker as requested.
• Communicate with Dock supervision, Line Haul drivers and Fleet Services personnel.
• Regular attendance is required.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
