Job summary
Contract Lumber in Blackstone, Virginia is seeking a Yard Manager to supervise the yard, oversee receiving, production and shipping of building materials, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The role reports to the Operations Manager and requires coordinating with the sales team on orders.
The position offers a full benefits package including profit sharing and a 401K, with a Monday–Friday first shift and occasional overtime.

Responsibilities
- Oversee yard operations including receiving, production and shipping of building materials.
- Coordinate with Operations Manager to ensure appropriate staffing.
- Work with sales on order issues and resolutions.
- Schedule production and ensure accurate delivery to job sites.
- Monitor inventory, usage, costs and trends to maintain stock at set levels.
- Request stock purchases from Inventory Manager.
- Collaborate with HR on employee relations and compliance.
- Act as Safety Leader; lead safety training as needed.
- Ensure equipment and yard safety practices are followed.
- Handle additional duties as required; minimal travel may be needed.
