Job summary

Safe Harbor Marinas, LLC is hiring a Yard Hand at our Wickford, RI location. The role supports the service department by hauling, blocking and launching boats, performing routine maintenance, and assisting the Yard Foreman and crew.

You will operate Travelift, trailers, a forklift and power washer, and help keep the marina clean. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, basic boat handling skills, and the ability to lift 50 pounds; forklift experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Haul, block and launch boats.
• Perform general boat maintenance including waxing, bottom painting and zinc replacement.
• Work with Yard Foreman and assist crewmembers as needed.
• Operate yard machinery such as 75-Ton Travelift, 35-Ton hydraulic trailer, forklift and power washer.
• Maintain marina grounds and cleanliness.
• Overtime may be required.

The Yard Hand is responsible for assisting with carrying out tasks required to successfully achieve the service department objectives. This role has growth potential and pay will be commensurate based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Haul, block and launch boats
• Perform general boat maintenance and service work to include, but not limited to: waxing, bottom painting and zinc replacement
• Work closely with the Yard Foreman and assist fellow crewmembers as needed
• Operate yard machinery including 75-Ton Travelift, 35-Ton hydraulic trailer, forklift, power washer, etc.
• Grounds maintenance and marina cleanliness
• Availability to work overtime when required
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

• Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training
• Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area
• Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately

Technical and Physical Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Heavy forklift experience a plus
• Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
• Ability to work in all weather conditions
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Basic boat handling skills a plus
• Any skills considered standard that a Yard Hand should possess
