Alter Trading Corporation in Columbus, NE is seeking a Yard Administrator to oversee scale operations and administrative tasks. You will schedule key events, facilitate communications, and manage day-to-day yard activities under the Facility Manager.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with an associate degree preferred, plus 2 years cashier experience and 1–3 years office support experience. First shift, weekly pay, with OT after 40 hours.

Yard Administrator

Salary Range: $19.00 To $21.00 Hourly

Position: Yard Administrator

Facility: Columbus, NE

Reports to: Facility Manager

Summary

Performs a wide variety of scale, administrative and clerical duties reporting to the Facility Manager including day to day operations of the scale, scheduling of key events, facilitating communications, and day-to-day operations.

• Answer telephone; respond to questions from customers, vendors, and/or employees.
• Code invoices in Datrose, accounts payable system
• Perform scale transactions at the truck scale
• Write checks for materials purchased from customers.
• Check day-end reports for accuracy.
• Balance ferrous and nonferrous manuals with SAI system at month end
• Run reports (SAI, spreadsheets and manual), used for managing the operation of the facility, on a scheduled basis and provide to appropriate individuals.
• Handle ferrous, non-ferrous and intercompany contracts, scan to Facility Manager
• Complete any export documentation; take pictures of the load and email to appropriate individuals.
• Responsible for Veriforce documentation
• Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned

Safety:

Wear all necessary PPE while in the yard. Follows company safety standards at all times. Failure to follow standards, may result in loss of position.

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required. Prefer specialized training equal to two years of college or an Associates' degree in Business Administration. At least 2 years experience working as a cashier in a retail environment and 1-3 years experience working as an office or clerical assistant, including customer service experience, and working with managers in order to gain sufficient skill to perform the requirements of the position.

Basic math abilities preferred; must be able to multi-task and problem-solve when handling customers and vendors in person, on the phone, etc. Must be able to communicate with all levels of internal and external contacts.

General knowledge of difference between ferrous and non-ferrous material is a plus.

First shift position // Monday-Friday; Saturday as needed.
