Job summary

Wichita State Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Inc. seeks student assistants for Event Staff at Charles Koch Arena and other venues. You will help with crowd management and enforce arena policies to deliver a safe, welcoming experience for guests.

This is a part-time position paying $11–$13 per hour. Some weeknights, weekends, and holidays may be required. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and enrollment in at least 6 Wichita State credit hours is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and enrollment in at least 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
• Prolonged standing, walking, stair climbing to access facility.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Collects and verifies tickets from attendees.
• Greets patrons and assists them in finding seats.
• Assists guests with locating exits and amenities (restrooms, concessions).
• Assists guests with limited mobility or other needs to and from seats.
• Ensures aisles and seating areas are clear, clean, and safe.
• Notifies supervisor of facility, supply, or venue issues.
• Escalates guest concerns to supervisor when necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Event Staff is responsible for crowd management and executing Arena, Stadium and WSU-ICAA event policies and procedures.

Job Summary

A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties

• Collects and verifies tickets from event attendees.
• Greets patrons and assists them in finding their seats.
• Assists guests with locating exits and amenities such as restrooms and concession areas.
• Assists guests with limited mobility or other special needs to and from their seats.
• Ensures that aisles, walkways, and designated seating areas are clear, clean, and safe.
• Calmly assists with disputes regarding tickets and seats.
• Notifies supervisor of any problems with facilities, supplies, and venue.
• Assists guests with complaints or concerns; escalates concerns to supervisor when necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education

High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Requirements

• Requires prolonged standing, sitting, walking and stair climbing to access full range of facility.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
