Job summary

826 Boston seeks a dynamic Writers’ Room Program Assistant at the Dr. Albert D. Holland High School of Technology in Dorchester.

You will provide classroom support and one‑on‑one guidance, using culturally responsive strategies to promote literacy and confidence in students from diverse backgrounds. The role emphasizes trauma‑informed, equity‑driven teaching and collaboration with multilingual and immigrant communities.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching/tutoring writing to grades 7–12 in urban settings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and people effectively.
• Familiarity with Google Apps, Salesforce and design tools like InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a writing tutor for 7–12th graders during conferences, small groups, and full classes.
• Develop and lead programming, including clubs and workshops.
• Support social‑emotional learning through writing activities.
• Develop monthly program newsletters and track progress.
• Coordinate Writers’ Room volunteers and manage communications.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and biannual reports.
• Support publishing projects from manuscript to release party.
• Assist with Student Editorial Board input on content and design.
• Communicate progress to staff supervisor and seek guidance as needed.
