Job summary

The Town of Apex is seeking a WRF Operator Mechanic to keep the wastewater treatment plant running safely and efficiently. You will monitor complex processes, perform chemical and biological tests, and adjust operations to ensure clean, compliant discharge for the community.

Responsibilities

• Perform operational and maintenance duties and conduct chemical, biological and microbiological tests.

• Keep records of work activities and maintain equipment and facilities.
• Regularly inspect plant equipment (pumps, motors, digesters, valves, etc.) and ensure proper function.
• Collect water and wastewater samples for laboratory analysis.
• Operate Tanker truck to transport Biosolids.
• Respond to emergencies to ensure continuous plant operation.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

• Makes regular tours of plant and checks bar screens, motors, digesters, generators, pumps, clarifiers, chlorinators, and other equipment for proper functioning.


• Records data from various meters gauges and dials; logs daily, weekly, and monthly activities.


• Performs general preventive and scheduled maintenance work such as greasing bearings, changing oil, belts and coolants and related visual inspections of equipment; performs minor maintenance repairs.


• Regulates and adjusts motors, pumps, blowers, valves and other apparatus to meet changing operating conditions.


• Performs routine grounds and building maintenance including mowing, cleaning, and painting.


• Collects water and wastewater samples for laboratory.


• Performs a variety of standardized laboratory tests to determine Ph, settleability, ammonia nitrogen, fecal coli form.


• Operates Tanker truck to transport Biosolids.


• Reports to work during emergencies and inclement weather to ensure proper plant operation.

WHAT SETSYOU UP FOR SUCCESS:

Position requires a High School Diploma or GED and minimal (less than one year) of experience.
