Job summary

The Town of Apex is seeking a WRF Operator Mechanic to keep the wastewater treatment plant running safely and efficiently. You will monitor complex processes, perform chemical and biological tests, and adjust operations to ensure clean, compliant discharge for the community.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED and, within six months, a Wastewater Operator's Grade I certificate. Monday–Friday schedule in Apex, NC with competitive benefits and a comprehensive work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Wastewater Operator's Grade I certificate within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform operational and maintenance duties and conduct chemical, biological and microbiological tests.
• Monitor plant operation through readings and test results and adjust processes as needed.
• Keep records of work activities and maintain equipment and facilities.
• Regularly inspect plant equipment (pumps, motors, digesters, valves, etc.) and ensure proper function.
• Collect water and wastewater samples for laboratory analysis.
• Operate Tanker truck to transport Biosolids.
• Respond to emergencies to ensure continuous plant operation.
