Job summary

Educational Service Center of Central Ohio seeks an Assistant Coach to support student athletes in skill development and sportsmanship. You will help plan regular in-season practices and coordinate with athletic staff on intramural and interscholastic contests.

The role involves equipment recommendations, paperwork maintenance, and ensuring safety across facilities, plus enforcing discipline and communicating with parents and guardians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit required.
• Valid Ohio certification/licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Coaching individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season.
• Working closely with the athletic director in the scheduling of intramural and interscholastic contests.
• Recommending purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
• Maintaining necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and other paperwork.
• Overseeing the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishing performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach’s sport.
• Enforcing discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishing and overseeing penalties for breach of such standards by the individual students.
• Maintaining communication with parents & parent organizations.

REPORTS TO:

Head Coach/ Athletic Director/Principal

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
• May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
• Excellent observation and communication skills
• Supervision of students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, and hallways, or on field trips
• Assisting students with behavioral/management needs
• Ability to interact with a diverse population of internal and external stakeholders.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year as established by the Board and terms of contract.
