Job summary

Mercy is seeking a dedicated Wound Care Nurse for an RN role in a clinic setting. You will assess and treat acute and chronic wounds, develop personalized plans, and collaborate with providers to achieve optimal healing outcomes.

The position emphasizes education, prevention, and improving patient quality of life in a compassionate outpatient environment, with a consistent Monday-Friday day schedule.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact licensure.
• WCC (Wound Care Certified) or WOCN (Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse) certification.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and patient education skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with acute and chronic wounds.
• Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary team members.
• Perform wound assessments and monitor healing progress.
• Identify and address signs and symptoms of infection or other complications.
• Provide specialized care for surgical wounds, pressure injuries, ulcers, feeding tube sites, abscesses, ostomy patients, and other complex wound conditions.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on wound management, prevention, and self-care techniques.
• Serve as a wound care resource and educator for clinical staff.
• Coordinate care to support optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
