Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Unboarded Graduate has graduated from an accredited nursing program but has not passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). Functioning as a member of the Care Delivery Team, the Unboarded RN Graduate works under the direction of a Clinical Nurse to provide direct, quality nursing care for patients and performs duties as assigned. The Unboarded RN Graduate must progress to the Registered Nurse (RN) New to Practice within 90 days of hire, in accordance with the State Board of Nursing licensing requirements. If licensure is not obtained due to not passing NCLEX, it must be obtained within 60 days of the NCLEX fail date.

Essential Job Functions

1. Performs nursing/medical treatments and diagnostic tests under supervision, including vital signs, specimen collection, and basic procedures.
2. Assists with patient hygiene, feeding, and mobility activities.
3. Prepares and maintains patient rooms and equipment.
4. Documents all treatments and patient data accurately in electronic health records.
5. Collaborates with team members to identify learning needs and participate in ongoing training and improvement activities.

Working Conditions

Includes exposure to high-stress situations, physical altercations, environmental hazards, and potential infectious materials. Travel to off-site locations may be required.

Physical Requirements

Includes lifting, pushing, bending, and standing for extended periods, with specific weight and activity percentages outlined.

Patient Population

Provides care across diverse age groups, including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, with knowledge of growth and development principles.
