Qualifications

• Must possess current, unencumbered license to practice as an RN or LPN in Illinois.
• Must possess CPR certificate or become certified within two weeks of employment.
• Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures.
• Demonstrates interest/knowledge in care of the aged.
• Must read, write, and speak English clearly.
• Ability to make independent decisions when needed.
• Ability to interact tactfully with patients, families, staff, and the public.
• Leadership and supervisory ability; teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to customers.
• Supervise day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards and facility policies.
• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct nursing care for the unit.
• Attend care plan conferences and participate in ongoing education.
• Place orders for medications and treatments as necessary following budget guidelines.
• Chart nursing notes reflecting care provided and patient response.
• Complete admissions, transfers, and discharges as required.
• Perform routine charting and ensure policies are followed.
• Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered.
