Job summary

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient referrals for tests, procedures, and visits; obtains authorizations from payors.
• Authorizes and schedules appointments; informs physicians and patients about the process.
• Provides authorization numbers and demographic data to staff; handles denials and appeals.
• Documents and maintains records of all referral activity and authorizations.
• May cross-cover in other areas as assigned.
• Communicates with patients, physicians, staff, and payers; prioritizes tasks under guidelines.
