Job summary

Heritage Auctions is seeking a full-time Set Director to create immersive auction previews and physically realize the vision across galleries, trade shows, and events worldwide. This role suits a skilled set decorator, art director, or production designer who can concept and execute installations with a measured, cost-conscious approach.

You will translate auction themes into elevated environments, source furnishings and props, and lead on-site builds while coordinating with marketing,

Qualifications

• Significant experience in set decoration, art direction, or production design.
• Portfolio showing immersive environments, set builds, or gallery displays.
• Strong taste, spatial awareness, and practical knowledge of materials, fabrication, and installation logistics.
• Hands-on, collaborative, and able to manage multiple installations and deadlines.
• Willingness to travel frequently to Heritage offices, galleries, and events worldwide.
• Proficient in Excel for data organization and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Own the creative vision and practical build of large-scale set designs and experiential displays.
• Translate themes and brand priorities into elevated, immersive environments.
• Source, rent, fabricate, install, and dress furnishings, props, and lighting.
• Manage budgets, timelines, logistics, safety, and installation constraints.
• Collaborate with marketing, events, operations, shipping, and executives to support auction strategy.
• Prepare production plans, mood boards, schedules, and vendor coordination.
• Lead on-site installation, dressing, troubleshooting, and teardown.
• Coordinate preview and trade show logistics to ensure efficient setups.
