Job summary

UCSF, a leading UC health sciences university, seeks a Workforce Analyst within People Analytics to support workforce reporting, analytics, and metric development that inform operational decisions.

You will partner with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to translate workforce requirements into maintainable analytics assets, refine data pipelines, and deliver reusable reporting solutions across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training.
• 2+ years developing complex SQL queries and working with structured data, using joins, CTEs, window functions, and reusable patterns.
• 2+ years developing reports from large data sets.
• Experience translating business questions into analytic approaches and actionable recommendations; 2+ years maintaining report specifications with business owners.
• Familiarity with dimensional modeling, data transformation techniques, and documenting business logic for engineering teams.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and the MS 365 Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently or in teams, manage priorities, and deliver in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop workforce metrics and analytics to inform operational and strategic decisions.
• Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into reporting solutions.
• Design and refine analytic solutions, validate outputs, and productionize reporting assets.
• Act as a bridge between business analysis and data engineering, refining analytic SQL and data transformation logic.
