Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to collaborate with Enterprise Information Analytics and Health Operations. You will design and deliver analytics solutions, transform data into actionable insights, and develop dashboards to monitor critical healthcare metrics.

The role emphasizes data governance, ETL, and healthcare data analysis, with onsite work as needed and a focus on operational improvements across UCSF Health entities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
• 3+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing secure, scalable BI/analytic solutions; 3-5 years as Tableau/Power BI Developer
• 1-3 years of experience in software specification, design, modification, implementation and deployment of medium-scale scope.
• 2 years of experience with dimensional data modeling and relational databases
• 2 years of experience in SQL
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Strong analytical and design skills to abstract information requirements and understand data flows
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated collaboration and customer service skills across diverse teams
• Experience in Agile/Scrum development methodology
• Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements
• Epic Clarity Certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand data, reporting, and analytics needs.
• Design, develop, and deliver efficient analytics solutions that support decision-making.
• Translate data into actionable insights to support operations and objectives.
• Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to monitor key metrics.
• Participate in analytic solution design, including data acquisition, rules, and reporting methodologies.
• Support data pipelines and ETL processes using SQL, DataStage, SSIS, Github, Databricks, or Azure Data Factory.
• Analyze, design, develop, test, document, and support data warehouse and analytics solutions.
• Collaborate with data modelers, architects, and integration teams on data architecture.
• Utilize SQL to extract, transform, validate, and optimize data for reporting.
• Leverage Epic and other enterprise systems to analyze healthcare data for operations.
• Perform analysis of complex datasets and communicate findings clearly.
• Ensure data integrity by identifying anomalies and driving quality improvements.
• Provide technical expertise in data storage, extraction, transformation, and reporting methodologies.
• Support analytics technology adoption and educate staff/customers on capabilities.
• Assist in troubleshooting complex issues with senior staff.
• Participate in data governance and enterprise data standards.
