Stanford Medicine is seeking a Senior Analyst, Workforce Analytics — Data, Reporting & BI, to transform workforce data into trusted insights. You will lead end-to-end BI initiatives, build scalable dashboards, and drive data governance with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain BI solutions including dashboards, KPIs, and ad hoc analyses.

We have an exciting new opportunity and invite applications for the position of Senior Analyst, Workforce Analytics — Data, Reporting & BI. We are seeking a dynamic, well-rounded analytics professional who can perform complex technical and analytical work to address workforce and business needs. Reporting to the Director of Workforce Analytics, your responsibilities will span workforce data, reporting, BI, and analytics to deliver trusted information and actionable insights that inform School of Medicine’s workforce strategies and decision-making.

Duties include:
  • Develop and maintain complex business intelligence solutions, including workforce reports, dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, metrics, and ad hoc analyses, with a focus on scalable reporting. Query, clean, transform, and integrate data from multiple sources to deliver accurate, actionable information and support organizational decision-making.
  • Lead complex workforce reporting and business intelligence initiatives end-to-end, from requirements gathering and solution design through development, validation, implementation, and ongoing support.
  • Originate and coordinate data governance/stewardship assignments.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for data, reporting, analytics, and related processes.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing of new BI analysis and reporting systems, upgrades, enhancements and change requests; plan, conduct and document results of testing.
  • Define and drive areas of investigations to assess and produce relevant, standard, or custom information (reports, charts, graphs, and tables) from structured data sources by querying data repositories and generating the associated information, including summary interpretations of results.
  • Develop and design methods for identifying data patterns and trends in available information sources using a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques. Proactively suggest areas of investigation.
  • Design and create meaningful reports that effectively illustrate key findings within the data. Identify and recommend strategic data collection and reporting requirements. Effectively convey findings and recommendations to varied audience groups and senior leadership.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for ad-hoc projects and inquiries (e.g., requests for statistical analyses or surveys).
    Lead and/or collaborate with technical staff, project teams or vendors to develop standardizing processes and systemize routine reports, dashboards, and metrics.
    Validate data, analyses, and outputs for accuracy, identify anomalies, and investigate data quality issues.
  • Leverage generative AI and emerging technologies to enhance analytical work, automation, and productivity, and identify opportunities to improve reporting and self-service analytics.
  • Educate and train stakeholders on workforce analytics tools and promote data literacy, including effective use and interpretation of workforce data.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline (Statistics, Economics, Finance, Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics, Psychology, Computer Science, MBA, Information Systems, Biology, Physics, Analytics, Data Science or similar area) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of workforce or HR data, metrics, and reporting practices preferred.
    Experience working with HR technology platforms (e.g., Oracle HCM, Workday, SuccessFactors); Oracle HCM experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Tableau, with substantial hands‑on experience independently designing and developing complex, interactive dashboards, including advanced calculations, parameters, level-of-detail expressions, and row‑level security.
  • Proficiency with SQL for querying and analyzing data.
  • Demonstrated experience transforming, integrating, validating, and analyzing large, complex datasets from multiple data sources for reporting and analytics.
  • Experience automating and streamlining recurring data, reporting, and analytics processes to improve efficiency.
  • Hands‑on experience using Python, R, or similar analytical tools is a plus.
  • Experience working with modern cloud‑based data and analytics platforms such as Databricks is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data governance or data catalog tools, such as Collibra, is a plus.
  • Strong stakeholder consulting skills, with the ability to understand business needs, translate requirements into effective data and reporting solutions, and communicate technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Experience with or interest in applying generative AI and emerging AI technologies to workforce analytics and related processes.
