Job summary

Hamilton Miller & Birthisel LLP is seeking a Workers' Compensation Attorney to defend cases from intake through resolution. The role involves discovery, depositions, motions, client communications, and court appearances as needed.

The ideal candidate has a JD, is admitted to the Florida Bar, and possesses 1–3 years of workers' compensation defense or civil litigation experience. Travel for hearings and mediations may be required.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar.
  • 1–3 years of workers' compensation defense experience.
  • Civil litigation defense experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Manages workers' compensation defense cases from intake through resolution.
  • Conducts discovery, including drafting/responding to requests and reviewing records.
  • Conducts and defends depositions of claimants, witnesses, and experts.
  • Drafts, argues, and responds to evidentiary and procedural motions.
  • Prepares case evaluations, analyses, and status reports per client guidelines.
  • Drafts pleadings, settlement proposals, and correspondence; represents clients at hearings, mediations, and court appearances (periodic travel required).
  • Maintains accurate, timely billing and documentation in accordance with firm and client standards.
  • Coordinates case tasks with paralegals and support staff.
  • Participates in internal meetings and incorporates feedback from supervising attorneys.
