Job summary

Hamilton Miller & Birthisel LLP, a premier insurance defense trial firm, seeks a Workers' Compensation Attorney to manage defense matters from intake to resolution. You will handle discovery, depositions, motions, and client inquiries while coordinating with support staff and maintaining billing accuracy.

Ideal candidates hold a JD, Florida Bar in good standing, and 1–3 years of workers' compensation defense experience; civil litigation background is a plus.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active Florida Bar membership.
  • 1–3 years of workers' compensation defense experience.
  • Civil litigation defense experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Manage workers' compensation defense cases from intake through resolution.
  • Conduct discovery, including drafting/responding to requests and reviewing records.
  • Conducts and defends depositions of claimants, witnesses, and experts.
  • Drafts, argues, and responds to evidentiary and procedural motions.
  • Prepares case evaluations, analyses, and status reports per client guidelines.
  • Drafts pleadings, settlement proposals, and correspondence; represents clients at hearings, mediations, and court appearances (periodic travel required).
  • Maintains accurate, timely billing and documentation in accordance with firm and client standards.
  • Coordinates case tasks with paralegals and support staff.
  • Participates in internal meetings and incorporates feedback from supervising attorneys.
