A boutique California based Workers Compensation defense firm is seeking an associate attorney to join their team! This firm represents large insurance carriers and third party administrators. Their clients include companies in the industrial space, transportation, landscaping, manufacturing, banking, etc. This is a 100% remote position!

Qualifications:

• 2 - 7 years experience in workers' compensation defense litigation
• Ability to work independently and remotely
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience taking an applicant's deposition and taking/defending a doctor’s deposition
• Trial experience is not required but preferred
• Admitted and in good standing with the California Bar
• Base Compensation: $165,000 - $215,000 + Additional Bonuses
• $12,000 annual stipend
• Full benefits with 100% paid PPO
• 401(k) with up to 4% match

Responsibilities Include:

• Handle a caseload of workers' compensation defense cases for various clients with a very active support staff
• Represent employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in hearings, trials, and appeals.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
• Conduct legal research and develop defense strategies.
• Assess claims, advise clients on exposure and liability, and negotiate settlements.
• Participate in mediation and dispute resolution.
