Job summary

Fessler & Bowman Inc. in Michigan seeks a Risk & Claims Manager to oversee active workers' compensation programs, return-to-work and claims documentation, ensuring timely resolution and protection of both team members and the company.

You will coordinate modified duties, track restrictions, and collaborate with HR, field leaders and carriers to sustain safety and operational goals across regions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of workers' compensation claims management experience with active caseload across multiple states.
• Demonstrated return-to-work and modified duty program coordination in a field-intensive environment.
• Working knowledge of the FMLA, ADA, and workers' compensation intersection.
• Advanced experience with WC carrier or TPA coordination including treatment authorization and adjuster communication.
• Advanced proficiency with claims management systems and case file documentation standards.
• Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with injured team members.
• Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages all active workers' compensation claims from intake through closure.
• Identifies modified duty opportunities for team members with work restrictions; coordinates placement with field supervisors and operational leaders.
• Maintains accurate records of work restrictions and coordinates with HR on ADA and FMLA intersections.
• Maintains complete claim files and coordinates with carriers and TPAs.
• Provides the Director of Risk Management with regular claim status summaries and emerging exposure flags.
• Coordinates Fessler & Bowman's response to workplace injuries and supports incident investigation with Safety.
• Coordinates leave with HR-administered programs; ensures proper designation of FMLA when applicable.
