Job summary

Guardian Life seeks a WorkdayTechnical Lead – Payroll, Time & Absence to own end-to-end design, configuration, and governance of Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence. This role partners with Payroll, HR and vendors to deliver compliant solutions within IT boundaries.

The successful candidate will balance stability with continuous improvement, drive scalable architecture, and serve as the primary technical advisor for stakeholders in the U.S. payroll domain and related integrations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Workday experience with deep expertise in
• Workday Payroll (U.S.)
• Time Tracking
• Absence
• Proven experience owning system design and configuration decisions
• Strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance, and downstream impacts
• Experience supporting integrations and data flows across systems
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex problem-solving and root cause analysis

Responsibilities

• Own architectural guardrails for Payroll, Time and Absence and coordinate execution.
• Establish and maintain standards for configuration, data integrity and governance.
• Make and guide key system design decisions for scalability and long-term architecture.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex payroll-impacting issues.
• Lead configuration of payroll elements, time tracking rules and absence plans.
• Ensure configurations meet business requirements while minimizing downstream risk.
• Collaborate with Payroll, HR and IT to deliver compliant, reliable solutions.
• Own outbound payroll data integration design and vendor coordination where needed.
