Job summary

McDermott Will & Schulte in Washington, DC seeks a Payroll Specialist to manage accurate, timely payrolls for attorneys and professionals using Workday. The role involves validating calculations, resolving discrepancies, and optimizing processes with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least three (3) years of experience processing payroll in Workday.
• Experience with multi-state payroll processing preferred.
• Experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred.
• Proficiency navigating Workday Payroll and validating results.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, process, and audit payrolls in Workday for attorneys and business professionals.
• Review and validate payroll calculations including earnings, deductions, and taxes.
• Reconcile payroll data across HR, timekeeping, benefits, and other sources.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and escalate as needed.
• Prepare payroll reports and journal entries for GL reporting.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and internal controls.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries with confidentiality.
• Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and stakeholders to deliver service.
