Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Workday Benefits Developer to lead the functional configuration, data migration, and system testing for our upcoming Workday implementation and seasonal readiness cycles. Following recent corporate acquisitions, including subsidiaries such as Capella Space, our organization is consolidating disparate human capital data from legacy systems (Dayforce and Namely) into a unified Workday ecosystem.

The successful candidate will act as the dedicated functional resource responsible for extracting and validating legacy data, building out benefit lines, and engineering our December Open Enrollment (OE) deployment. This role provides critical, high-level operational support to leadership, transforming complex, multi-entity data sets into seamless Workday architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line Development: Architect, configure, and maintain core Workday Benefits lines, plans, coverage groups, and eligibility rules.
  • System Upkeep: Manage functional configurations supporting Life Event Changes, General Compensation structures, and Payroll Applications Tracking.
  • Open Enrollment Design: Own the end-to-end design, logic building, and technical readiness of the December Open Enrollment platform.

Data Migration & Legacy System Reconciliation

  • Data Extraction & Analysis: Query, extract, and audit historical benefits data out of restrictive legacy systems, specifically Ceridian Dayforce and Namely.
  • Data Mapping: Clean, format, and align complex data structures from recently acquired entities to ensure seamless integration into Workday.
  • Partnership with IT: Collaborate closely with internal IT teams to standardize, automate, and replicate successful data-loading processes (EIBs).

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Functional Testing: Design and execute comprehensive functional test scripts to validate system behavior against business requirements.
  • Payroll Validation: Perform rigorous end-to-end testing to verify that benefits deductions, calculations, and premium allocations flow flawlessly into payroll applications.

Critical Timelines & Milestones

  • Late September: Finalize cross-vendor alignments and lock down structural system requirements.
  • October – November: Complete historical data loads, execute rigorous functional/payroll parallel testing, and finalize OE system configurations.
  • December: Launch and support the live Open Enrollment cycle.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Workday Expertise: Demonstrated experience as a Workday Benefits Developer or Functional Consultant, with a proven track record of supporting full-lifecycle implementations.
  • Advanced Data Capabilities: High proficiency in data manipulation, auditing, and mapping. Experience managing the data friction associated with corporate M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions) is highly preferred.
  • Legacy Systems: Prior experience navigating and extracting data from Ceridian Dayforce and/or Namely.
  • Cross-Functional Acumen: Strong functional understanding of the dependencies between Workday Benefits, Core Comp, and Payroll modules.
  • Execution-Focused: Ability to operate autonomously, gather requirements directly from stakeholders, and drive projects to completion under tight regulatory and seasonal deadlines.
