Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: Valid Oregon Teaching License with CTE endorsement in woodworking, carpentry, or a related trade.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals and communicate with students and parents.
• Mathematical Skills: Able to apply measurement and geometry to practical construction tasks.
• Reasoning Ability: Solve shop-related problems and interpret instructions in blueprint form.
• Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of OSHA regulations in an educational shop.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Oregon Teaching License or eligibility for alternative licensure; Valid Oregon driver’s license.
• Interpersonal Skills: Works well with students, staff, and the community; maintains confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements engaging lesson plans aligned with Oregon standards for woodworking and carpentry.
• Maintains a safe, organized shop environment conducive to hands-on learning.
• Assesses student progress through evaluations, projects, and skill demonstrations.
• Collaborates with educators and administration to enhance curriculum and share best practices.
• Ensures all shop activities comply with OSHA regulations and district safety standards.
• Stays current on industry trends to provide up-to-date instruction.
• Manages classroom materials and equipment inventory; coordinates repairs as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
