Actalent in San Jose, CA is seeking an Estimator Wood Framing & Rough Carpentry, a hybrid role supporting preconstruction for commercial and public works projects. You will review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, and develop competitive cost estimates to win bids and deliver quality projects.

The ideal candidate has 35+ years of estimating experience, hands‑on framing knowledge, and proficiency with PlanSwift or OST.

Qualifications

• 35+ years of estimating experience in construction.
• Hands-on wood framing and rough carpentry experience.
• Ability to read drawings, specs, bid documents accurately.
• Experience with digital takeoff software as a core workflow.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams.
• Hybrid PM/Estimator background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs, and bid documents to define scope.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for wood framing and rough carpentry.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, and equipment.
• Analyze project risks and pricing drivers for bids.
• Lead bid reviews and clearly communicate estimating assumptions.
