Job summary

Weaver Apparel LLC in New York City is seeking a highly organized Technical Designer — Women’s Apparel to join our on-site team.

The Technical Designer will own the technical design process from development through final fit approval, translating design concepts into production-ready garments that meet our fit, construction, quality, and brand standards. You’ll collaborate with design, product development, and overseas factories to manage samples and provide detailed fit feedback.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Technical Design experience, preferably in women’s apparel.
• Strong technical design skills, including developing and maintaining tech packs, specifications, measurement charts, and fit comments.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, fitting, and grading.
• Pattern-making knowledge is required, including the ability to evaluate and recommend pattern adjustments.
• Deep understanding of cut-and-sew and woven apparel.
• Experience working across women’s apparel categories such as dresses, tops, bottoms, wovens, and knits.
• Experience working directly with overseas factories and vendors.
• Ability to balance aesthetics, fit, function, quality, manufacturability, and cost.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe Illustrator, PLM systems, or other technical design tools is a plus.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for working across internal teams and international factory partners.
• Education in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Production, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical design process from initial development through final fit approvals.
• Analyze garment construction to establish accurate fit and measurement specifications.
• Conduct fittings, evaluate samples, and provide clear and actionable fit and construction comments.
• Develop, update, and maintain technical specifications, tech packs, measurement charts, and detailed fit comments, providing clear direction to vendors and factories.
• Apply strong pattern-making knowledge to identify and resolve fit, proportion, and construction issues.
• Review and make necessary pattern and specification adjustments throughout the development process.
• Ensure product development aligns with established fit and quality standards as well as manufacturer capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with design, product development, production teams, vendors, and overseas factories.
• Make technical adjustments that maintain design integrity while optimizing quality, manufacturability, and pricing.
• Troubleshoot construction and production issues and communicate revisions clearly to factory partners.
• Maintain consistency in fit, measurements, and construction standards across women’s apparel categories.
